I s Fitness and Exercise REALLY Neccesary?

I had a stark realization last Month.

 I am getting OLD!
 Not ancient....... just OLD!


The things that I did just a few years I now had to slow down, think through how I was going to accomplish a task....how much strength and time it took.... or if I was going to need some help.

Did I like the "new-OLD" me? Not on your life!


My balance was going to hell, and my physical stamina was way down. Way Down!

I was frustrated and was complaining to my life mentor and closest friend Dr. M V.

He did his usual "straight to the heart" of the matter assessment and hit me with an explanation I did not want to really hear.

EXERCISE! EXERCISE! EXERCISE!


I needed to Exercise, Exercise, Exercise. 


If I wanted to do the things that I DID just a few years ago I would have to do regular and sensible exercise without fail.

It wasn't what I really wanted to put in to my life at the time, but I also realized that if I wanted to keep roaming the woods for the things that I LOVE harvesting, or being on the water fishing, kayaking, and camping I had to adopt a system and stick to it.

What I didn't want was the grind of hitting the Gym, investing hours a day on a routine that may or may not work.

Something About Myself

Now let me say something about myself.  I plan for every little thing in my life....my problem is that I don't work the plan. I always have something "else" that needs to be done. Something more pressing.

Dr M V made it very clear that if I did not put the time in to revitilize my system, I would only continue to lose my strength and balance, and also my life's pleasure....The Out Of Doors!

I did some research, and after a thorough searching session, I have begun a system that I can do from anywhere, at most anytime, and at a pace the suits me.
  • No Gym.
  • No Expensive memberships.
  • No Weight Ins or Sing-Alongs at  weekly meetings.
  • No fancy foods delivered to my front door.
  • No Pressure to "hit the Wall" in my exercise routine.

I am not going to insult your intelligence on all the things that is has done and is doing for me.

It  takes me less then 15 minutes....12 minutes actually... a day to keep and increase my strength and balance, and all without going to a gym, or a meeting of like minded adults.

An added benefit is that I am loosing weight and toning muscle.  Without weights and super hard diets.

Am I 100% up to speed....Nope!  Am I feeling like I did 20 years ago.....Nope!

BUT

  • I am feeling better then I did before I started PACE.
  • My balance is almost at a level before I started this program.
  • My appetite is back to where it was when I was eating for health not just to get full
  • I am sleeping better then I have in 20 years.
  • I have quit smoking my two daily "cigars"
  • I am looking forward to my daily sessions at a PACE for me
